National Post reviews Obsession, Compulsion, Collection

National PostAugust 21 , 2004.   Now, I know what you’re thinking — symposiums, Banff Centre, academic papers &mdsah; life is too short, unless you’re one of the players involved. But relax, although a handful of the essays and articles in the book do tend to veer off into impenetrable artspeak — who knew, for instance, that “the object’s pre-emptive emptiness and the infinite exchangeability of meaning” was so important? — most of the writing is reasonably accessible, given the high-minded context. And none of it is dull, which makes the book itself something of a collector’s item among art books.
