Frobisher among premieres that “helped put Calgary on the map” in 2007

Calgary Herald: “The first performance of the Calgary Opera-Banff Centre co-production of John Estacio and John Murrell’s Frobisher — an event of national cultural significance in the wake of the duo’s hugely successful first collaboration, Filumena, four years earlier— took place at the Jubilee Auditorium in late January and early February.”

Olympic dance springing from Banff Centre

Banff Centre co-production “Snow Queen” premieres in Toronto

Eye Weekly: Snow Queen, by Canadian composer Patrick Cardy (1953-2005), is a work for string quartet (the Tokai String Quartet, fourth-place finishers in the 2007 BISQC) and narrator based on Hans Christian Andersen’s 1845 fairy tale of the same name. “This is an example of multimedia storytelling at its most sensitive and thoughtful.”
