Russian ballerina Olga Lepeshinskaya dies at 100

Times Online Obituary: “She was known to be Stalin’s favourite dancer… On retiring from the stage Lepeshinskaya became a teacher, notably for the Komische Oper in East Berlin. She also taught for a time in Munich, and in America at the Banff Centre summer school.”

Pianist Phillip Bush traces roots to Banff Centre

Free Times [Columbia, South Carolina]: “The roots of Bush’s career can be traced directly to the time he spent after Peabody at the Banff Center in Alberta, Canada, “which was kind of a post-graduate artist colony,” Bush recalls. “That was a super-pivotal time for me,” he says. “Great faculty would come in and play chamber music with the students. They also brought in a lot of composers, and we would do their music.”
